FairyTale HotelA Warm Bed at the End of the Line
I’ve always been a fan of motels. Motels evoke the weary romance of a long road trip.

Dusty roads and a neon sign in the distance. It’s a illuminated promise of a quiet room, a good night sleep and perhaps a Coke machine. It’s as much part of the North American tradition as baseball and apple pie.

Whereas motels have a long and storied tradition in North America, they have only recently begun popping up in Taiwan. However, with more and more people traveling independently by car, rather than being confined by the train or bus, motels have surged in popularity. One such motel is the Fairy Tale Motel in Hualien City. It’s an establishment that brings west coast luxury to the east coast.

FairyTale Hotel What’s so special about this motel, you may ask? While the Fairy Tale Motel is certainly not the first motel in Hualien, it has quickly gained the reputation as the most unique. It’s 90% occupancy rate since it opened in April this year speaks volumes about its popularity. It’s not the Coke machine that attracts so many visitors, it’s their rooms.

That’s right, the Fairy Tale Motel is the first, and thus far only, themed motel in Hualien. It offers several themed rooms for visitors, such as: The Mermaid’s Bubble, Naughty Snow White, Pandora’s Box and The King’s Whip. If those names don’t arouse a certain curiosity, nothing will. Each themed room offers special amenities pertaining to the theme giving patrons a space in which to let their imaginations soar. For example, in the Pandora room visitors are given a room full of mystery and the style and design imply hidden treasure and dark secrets. It is the motel’s most requested suite.

Fairy Tale Motel also offers business suites for those visiting Hualien for reasons less conjugal. Room rates range from NT$2700 – NT$3000 on weekdays to NT$3600 – NT$4000 on weekends and holidays. Discounts are available for handicapped visitors, students and foreigners. The owners of the Fairy Tale Motel are determined to leave visitors with a good impression of Hualien
